Give The Carpenter a Strong Start This Giving Tuesday

Give the support The Carpenter Woodshop needs now that it’s open to people rebuilding their lives after prison.

Work is necessary for successful reintegration. Finding it shouldn’t be so hard.

Many people leaving prison are ready to start supporting themselves through honest work. However, a criminal record, gaps in employment, and lingering stigma often stand between them and an employer willing to give them a chance.

A Woodshop Where Experience Starts

The Carpenter Woodshop is the latest addition to M2W2’s 60-year legacy of supporting people in prison and after release. This Chilliwack shop creates a low-barrier employment experience where people impacted by incarceration work alongside skilled volunteers, learn woodworking and general labour, and build the habits a steady job demands.

Help Us Finish Strong

On November 19, many of you joined us to celebrate The Carpenter’s first Open House. The shop is now open, and this Giving Tuesday we’re raising $10,000 to help it build momentum in its first months.

You can help provide:

Tools and Machines

Equip participants with what they need to learn skills and build new things.

Project Materials

Participants will use these materials to fill the shop with their own creations.

Safety Gear

Eye, ear, and dust protection will keep everyone safe on their projects.

Shop Operations

Keep the shop running and the work going through its first season.

Someone Ready to Work Needs Somewhere to Start

Leaving prison without work, steady relationships, or a place to be each morning makes a hard transition harder. At The Carpenter, someone can show up for a shift, learn from a volunteer who knows the trade, finish a piece they’re proud of, and leave with real experience to build on.

Help The Carpenter build momentum this Giving Tuesday. Give once to support the shop’s first months, or give monthly to keep tools in hand and lumber on the bench season after season.
