Help Build a Future Rooted in Hope
Your three-year pledge helps us match more people impacted by incarceration with mentors and open a Woodshop where they can rebuild stability.
No one should have to rebuild life alone.
People in prison often have few consistent relationships outside, and that isolation follows them out the door. So does their record, which makes work hard to find even for someone who wants a fresh start. About half of the people released from custody in British Columbia are reconvicted within two years.
60 Years of Hope Beyond Incarceration
Coming home from prison means starting over from scratch. We’ve seen that people do better when someone stays with them through it.
Last year, that looked like:
107
people mentored inside correctional institutions
62
people supported after release through No One Leaves Alone (NOLA)
30
people gained work experience at Hidden Treasures Thrift Store
4,863
hours given by 120 volunteer mentors
You Can Help Build What Comes Next
Join us as we work to match more people with a mentor who keeps showing up.
The biggest new piece is The Carpenter, a woodshop where people impacted by incarceration are paid to build furniture for real customers. Their trade hours are tracked toward apprenticeship and Red Seal certification. Mentors work at the next bench, and faith and conversation are part of an ordinary day in the shop.
More People Matched with Mentors
By 2029:
200 people mentored inside
100 people supported after release
200 volunteers
A Woodshop that Sustains Itself
By 2029:
60 people a year learning a trade
30 volunteer mentors in the shop
The shop runs on its own revenue
Hundreds of people are still waiting to be matched with a mentor.
John met his mentor, Brent, because he wanted someone to talk to. Today, John works on the front lines, helping other people receive mentorship.
“I cleaned up my act. I had to do that myself, but knowing that Brent was coming every week really helped.” — John
Your three-year pledge helps provide mentors and opportunities to those who are still waiting.
