An Evening of Hope: The 2025 Annual Gala

On October 25th, M2W2 had its Raising Hope Annual Gala at Garden Park Tower in Abbotsford. What a night to remember! From the moment the doors opened, the room was filled with warmth, laughter, and heartfelt connection. Seeing 190 of you in the same room with us was a powerful reminder of the fantastic community that surrounds M2W2.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended, volunteered, bid in the auction, and gave so generously. Together, we created an evening that celebrated second chances and the simple truth that no one is beyond hope.

Throughout the night, we heard stories that captured why this work matters so much. One woman shared how addiction and alcoholism once shaped her life as a way to cope with an abusive childhood, and prison left her believing she wasn’t worthy of being a mother to her children. But then, she met a mentor who reminded her that she is worthy of love and restoration. That relationship helped her rebuild her confidence and reconnect with her children. Today, she is the co-author of several books that tell stories of women finding freedom, healing, and purpose after incarceration.

Other speakers echoed her testimony of what it means to have a prison mentor. When the world turns away from you, having someone who shows up consistently, listens without judgment, and offers a helping hand changes not only your outlook but the very trajectory of your life. Prisons across the province have confirmed the impact of M2W2’s work: individuals who participate in our mentoring program are far less likely to be reincarcerated after release. That’s the power of trust, belonging, and community in action.

Because of your generosity, we’ve already raised $64,000—more than halfway toward our goal of $100,000. Every dollar represents another chance for someone in prison to find stability, purpose, and a fresh start.

But our work isn’t finished yet. Countless more men and women are still waiting for a mentor who will remind them that their story isn’t over and help them prepare for life after incarceration.
