A Story of Hope: Full Residency & Imminent Release

During a recent visit to Mission Institution, an individual was thrilled to tell me that he had just been granted full residency—a major step toward reintegration. He shared, “I wasn’t sure where I would be going and was afraid I’d be on the street.” Now, with full residency, he’s been approved to live in a community-based residential facility, often a halfway house, where he’ll receive structured support as he transitions back into society. This news brought a sense of peace and direction to someone who had been facing deep uncertainty.

What made this moment even more powerful was knowing that one of our dedicated mentors had written a letter of support to the parole board, advocating for this individual’s readiness and need for a stable environment. That letter played a key role in the board’s decision. It’s a beautiful example of how mentorship isn’t just relational—it can be transformational.

“He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their chains in pieces.” — Psalm 107:14

This verse beautifully reflects the journey of those we walk alongside—moving from despair to hope, from confinement to freedom.
