Lisa’s Story

“The volunteers have changed my life.”

“From having someone to talk with when things get hard to getting my ID and essentials, my life is much better now. I feel more capable of accomplishing the things I want to. Many people when they are released from prison, no longer have valid identification, meaning it is impossible to sign up for things like disability or income support or even find employment. A lot of those who are released also face technology, financial or transportation barriers in attempting to get their ID in order. This is one of the main ways NOLA helps. Setting up and driving to appointments and having someone to help every step of the way.  To the people supporting NOLA, thank you. The volunteers have changed my life, and I am so thankful for those who have made this possible”.
